Engineering First Year Learning Community

The Engineering First Year Learning Community groups students together in the same sections of engineering, math, science, and supplemental instruction each quarter of the first year. The program is designed around academic and social networks to help foster community and help students explore the engineering professions.

CHASS F1RST

• Frosh Program

  Students participate in a learning community and take classes with peers in your major. Learning community students report higher grades and greater satisfaction with their UCR experience.

  Partner with the Transfers F1RST program to access valuable tools and resources that will help you avoid transfer shock.

College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS):

• STEM Connections Program:
  CNAS STEM Connections provides resources for students including the Transfer Transition Seminar, research opportunities (MARC, USDA, RISE, SBTR, CAMP), and Peer Mentor programs. 
   
• CNAS Scholars 
  The mission of CNAS Scholars is to provide tools and support for our students to graduate from UC Riverside with competitive grades, personal development, and enriched educational experiences. We do this by providing our first-year participants with supplemental instruction, peer support, faculty exposure, research opportunities, a year-long cohort experience, and guaranteed seats within their math and science courses.
   

• UCR PERSIST (Promoting Engagement, Retention, and Success in STEM Training)
  A year-long sophomore success program that aims to continue the support provided by the CNAS Learning Communities. PERSIST intends to do so by further enhancing the academic performance and research experience of previous Learning Community students, now sophomores. Students in this program will receive consistent peer mentoring, financial support, and extensive exposure to undergraduate research. At the end of the program, all PERSIST students will receive a guaranteed seat in RISE.

School of Medicine (SOM):

• Medical Scholars Program - 

  The Medical Scholars Program (MSP) is a program sponsored by the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine that is designed to help undergraduate students prepare for careers in health or biomedical sciences. Students in the MSP distinguish themselves through their leadership, commitment to program goals, and desire to provide service to underserved and diverse communities. MSP supports students who are first-generation to college and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged. 

School of Business

• Advising
  Business Advisors are available to assist students remotely through zoom appointment, workshops, and emails. Please visit our Advising website for more details about our programs and advising support and resources.
   
• Student Organizations
  Make the most of your business experience by joining one or more of the more than 400 student organizations at UCR.
   
• Student Ambassadors
  A group of students dedicated to enhancing and representing the Undergraduate Business Programs, by serving as a peer resources for Business undergraduate students.  The Student Ambassador Program will expose you to new business networks and dynamic leadership opportunities. 
   
• Business Transfer Mentors
  The Transfer Student Mentor Program plays an integral role in the transition process for new transfer students. Created by Transfer Students for Transfer Students. 
   
• Pre-Business, CHASS F1RST First-Year Experience Programs
  First- and second-year students register for pre-business under the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS). Students are required to participate in the CHASS F1RST First-Year Experience Program which provides the tools, opportunities, and experiences to be successful at UCR and beyond.

Graduate School of Education

• Community Engaged Learning 
  Students in the Education, Society, and Human Development majors must complete 40 hours of Community Engaged Learning as a component for the degree.
   
• Student Ambassador Program
  Our Ambassadors are top-notch education students who support the vision and spirit of the GSOE by collaborating with faculty and staff to provide engaging, informative, and personalized experiences for the community.
